Setting up an electronic fence for dogs

Návod na instalaci elektronického ohradníku pro psy od elektro-obojky.cz.

Setting up a transmitter for an electronic dog fence:

* The transmitter must be placed in a location securely protected against water and moisture. It can tolerate temperature changes (within the range specified in the specifications) but would be destroyed by water entering.

* Mount the transmitter on an interior wall near an electrical outlet (220 V).

* Connect the transmitter to the power adapter by inserting the adapter cable into the transmitter and plugging the adapter into a power outlet.

Installation of the antenna wire of the electronic fence:

For the system to work, the wire must be connected to the transmitter and form an unbroken loop of wire with a cross-section of 0,1-2.5 mm2 depending on the length of the loop. From the transmitter, unwind the wire around your property. To bring the wire out of the garage, house, or other covered area where the transmitter is located, pass it through a window, door, or other suitable means. The wire can be placed on the ground, shallowly buried (max. 5 cm deep), or attached to an existing fence or wall (in this case, up to a maximum height of 30 cm above the ground). The wire must not be stretched as it could be damaged by changes in length due to temperature changes.

If you need more than 100 m of aerial wire, you must attach additional wire of the required length using notch connectors or other suitable and reliable means. However, the splice point (or any other section of wire) must not be left stripped. There is no need to strip the wire at the end of the insulation when using the notch connectors supplied by us. If you want your dog to be able to walk freely through a certain point on your property through which you must run a wire (for example, between a transmitter located in your garage and a wire running around the perimeter of your property), wind the outgoing wire around the incoming wire: twisting the wires around causes interference with the emitted waves.

Do not shape the wire at right angles at the corners, but rather make a wider curve if possible. When you have formed a loop and are back at the transmitter with the other end, strip both ends of the wire and secure them to the transmitter connector with two screws. Insert the connector into the appropriate place on the transmitter (the connector is molded and can only be inserted one way).

Defining targets for an electronic fence:

The boundary targets allow the dog to see the zone in which it can move freely and the boundaries it must not cross (if the wire is routed through a place where the boundary is not defined naturally, for example by a hedge). We recommend that the signs be placed on the inner edge of the sound warning zone, well apart. Once the dog is familiar with its boundary, the markers can be removed.

Turning the electronic fence on and off:

Electronic fence transmitter:

Plug the connector of the adapter into the socket on the bottom of the transmitter unit and plug it into a power outlet. Turn the transmitter on by flipping the switch on the bottom of the unit to the "ON" position. The green indicator light on the front panel will illuminate and if you do not have an antenna wire connected, the red indicator light (Loop error) will flash and the transmitter will begin to emit an audible intermittent signal. Once the antenna wire is connected, the light will remain on steady and the transmitter will stop emitting an audible signal.

Electronic fence receiver (collar):

Inserting (replacing) the battery: unscrew the 4 screws of the receiver cover with a cross-head screwdriver. Insert the battery, making sure to use the correct polarity, indicated by the "+" sign on the circuit board, next to the battery compartment. A beep will sound to indicate that the collar is active.

Make sure the seal is in the correct place, i.e. in the groove on the cap. To maintain watertightness, we recommend replacing this seal at least once a year, or occasionally coating it with silicone petroleum jelly to prolong its life. Replace the receiver cover cap and use a cross-head screwdriver to tighten the 4 screws with moderate force.

When you replace the battery, the collar remembers the mode you had selected before.

Turning off the electronic fence:

If the receiving collar is not used for a long period, the battery should be removed. If you want to take your dog out of the fenced area, remove the receiving collar. You can also turn the transmitter off by turning the switch to the "OFF" position.

Setting the width of the zones (warning and correction zones):

With the transmitter, you can increase or decrease the width of the warning and correction zone, depending on the conditions of your property and how the antenna wire is laid.
